Acupuncture

Acupuncture is used to help reduce or eliminate pain, swelling, inflammation, and assist in bringing your body back to homeostasis. It uses meridians in the body to help circulate the blood and qi (energy) to help reduce any disruption in the body. Some common areas or ailments treated are back pain, neck pain, pain throughout the body, fibromyalgia, headaches, migraines, TMJ syndrome, Bell’s Palsy, fertility, sports related injuries or traumas, stress, anxiety, depression, and facial acupuncture. We also utilize acupressure or acupuncture in babies to aid in better digestion or help with colic symptoms.

Chiropractic

Chiropractic care can help the body realign when the musculature gets too tight and starts to pull the bones out of proper alignment. The overactive muscles can create one sided tension, inflammation, or swelling, which may cause discomfort or pain in the body. Chiropractic treatment helps the joints or bones to shift back where they can produce proper function, blood flow, and movement patterns in the body. A biomechanical approach helps to look at functional movement patterns to make sure the limbs and body are moving appropriately and not “stuck” or restricted. Our office routinely helps with every day body aches and pain, traumas developed from overuse or injury whether sitting too long or from athletic training.

Sports Therapy

Dr. Cheney treats athletes of all ages, in sports ranging from volleyball to professional MMA fighters. Chiropractic healthcare offers many benefits for athletes, focusing on enhancing performance and promoting overall well-being, including:

Injury Prevention- Regular chiropractic adjustments can help maintain proper alignment of the spine and joints, reducing the risk of injuries by ensuring the body is functioning optimally. Additionally, chiropractic care coupled with acupuncture can provide relief from pain caused by injuries or overuse, using techniques such as spinal manipulation, soft tissue therapy, and exercise recommendations.

Improved Mobility and Flexibility-Chiropractic care can help increase an athlete's range of motion, making them more agile and less prone to injuries. By ensuring the musculoskeletal system is well-aligned and functioning efficiently, chiropractic care contributes to better athletic performance.

Lastly, chiropractic treatment can promote quicker recovery from injuries by improving blood circulation and reducing inflammation. Chiropractic care can be a valuable component of an athlete's regimen, helping to maintain physical health, enhance performance, and speed up recovery from injuries.

Newborn & Toddler Chiropractic

Newborns will often have body tension at birth due to being stuck in various positions while in utero or during the birthing process; potential pulling or tugging to get the baby out as safely as possible. Chiropractic care, combined with acupressure/acupuncture, & bodywork, can help work out the tension in their little bodies.

Chiropractic can help other potential problems that arise like failure to thrive, colic, gassiness, or difficulty with nursing & latching. Chiropractic care can also aid in better sleep, regular bowels, increased feeds, & proper head shape and facial symmetry development. Chiropractic care for babies is a very gentle light touch which will help to relax your beautiful baby.

For toddlers, Dr. Cheney can help treat hyper and hypotonia (low or tight muscle tension) in children, to help aid in their proper musculoskeletal development. This will help them to utilize both side of their bodies optimally and properly with care.

Pre & Post Natal Chiropractic

Chiropractic care will help to facilitate decreased pain, body tension, and stress on the pregnant woman’s body during and after delivery. Symptoms many pregnant women experience are sciatica, carpal tunnel like symptoms, groin pain, or mid and low back pain. These can all arise as the body naturally expands with the pregnancy development & hormone changes. Care is important for keeping the mother functional and moving throughout her pregnancy, so that she can continue to stay as active as she wants.

Post-natal care is important while the body is balancing hormones and the body is recovering from delivery. Body aches and pains can come from sitting or laying in positions for long periods, nursing while hunching forward, and being overall tired as you’re getting used to having a new little one and finding your routine.

Webster Technique is a gentle form of chiropractic care that helps to allow for proper pelvic positioning and optimal room for the babies growth in the womb. It helps to prepare the body for delivery to assist in removing any musculoskeletal and ligamentous restrictions, helping to aid the pelvis to properly expand during delivery. This technique is also a wonderful addition to any mother who plans for a C-section, but still wants to have a more gentle form of chiropractic care.

Fertility Treatment

Acupuncture is an excellent treatment for fertility or as an adjunct therapy to improve the chances of conceiving naturally, as well as assisting through IVF or IUI. Acupuncture can help to regulate the period cycle to properly prepare the uterus to become fertilized.

Additionally, acupuncture can help regulate postpartum depression and assist the body in regulating the hormones after delivery. It can help increase the breastmilk supply allowing moms to decrease their stress when they aren’t worrying over a low or dwindling supply. This treatment also assist with any pain post delivery, whether recovering from a vaginal or cesarian delivery.

Micro Needling

Microneedling, a type of natural Collagen Induction Therapy, is a cosmetic treatment used to address various skin conditions. The technique uses a pen-like device with tiny sterile needles over the skin or treatment site. When the device is passed back and forth across the skin, it creates controlled microscopic injuries, which stimulates collagen matrix to produce more collagen. While the micro needled areas are open, a customized TCM serum solution is next applied topically and optimally absorbed into the skin to further promote healing and enhance the anti-aging effects. This treatment can be used as a standalone or in combination with cosmetic acupuncture and LED light therapy.

Treatments you can do with Micro-Needling and Nano-Needling: Wrinkles, Scars, Age Spots, Acne Reduction, Hair Growth, Stretch Marks, and Pain Treatments

In Pregnancy, patients may utilize Nano-Needling in order to safely work on their skin as the Nano-Needle is void of any small needles, therefore it won’t penetrate the skins dermal surface.

Cupping

Cupping is used to help bring the stuck or stagnate blood up to the surface of the skin to allow the body to spread out and disperse the pain. Chinese theory says the blood holds onto the pain in the body. By bringing the “stuck blood” up to the surface your body is able to help facilitate the free flowing movement of the blood and to release the pain that has built up in that region. Cupping is used to release muscular tension and pain in the region. A light pink to deep purpling color can be left dependent upon the stagnation that is present in the body. It can be a very relaxing and soothing therapy or can feel more like a deep tissue massage that’s working out tight areas in the body. Many professional athletes use cupping therapy.

Herbal Formulas

We utilize Chinese Formulas and single herbs to help the patient with the underlying root cause of their conditions. We assess the tongue and pulse of the patient along with their symptoms, to help determine which formula will work the best for their needs. Chinese Formulas have been used for thousand of years, but unlike allopathic medicine, someone coming in with a similar case or condition can get a different formula than another person and still improve and recover from their condition. Most can be taken simultaneously to pharmaceuticals. Those will be determined by the practitioner to avoid anything that cannot be combined.
